Speech And Language Supplementary Preschool

Language Acquisition Enrichment Preschool (LEAP)

What is LEAP?

LEAP is a supplementary preschool program that provides extra support services for special needs children that are delayed in one or more of the following areas: speech and language, hearing impaired, and other cognitive or developmental delays and disorders.

LEAP is a 2 day a week program held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00-12:00.

Is my child a good match for the LEAP supplementary preschool?

Children that are not ready to be in a regular preschool setting yet or children that already are in a regular preschool setting but need more attention to their developmental needs are excellent candidates for LEAP.

How is LEAP different than my child's regular preschool environment?

This unique supplementary preschool offers children a place to grow, learn, and directly work on their speech-language, developmental, and cognitive goals beyond what their typical preschool environment is able to offer. Children are better able to achieve their individual goals because LEAP is led by speech language therapists who are trained in speech and language development, cognitive enhancement, and other aspects of neurodevelopment. Children needing more individualized attention in their regular preschool program can come to the LEAP supplementary preschool program to receive more individualized attention on their special needs and developmental goals.

What is the classroom size and therapist to child ratio?

Our LEAP classroom welcomes 3-5 year-old children with various delays. We accept a maximum of 9 children into the program and maintain a 3 to 1 child to therapist ratio to ensure each child's needs are attended to and progress is closely monitored. Because our staff has expertise in the area of speech and language development, our program is equipped to meet the needs of your child.

Is LEAP a year round program?

LEAP is offered on a quarter system. Children are welcome to enroll in LEAP for one quarter at a time or children can enroll for the year. Space is limited, so parents are encouraged to enroll their child at least four weeks in advance prior to a desired quarter to avoid being waitlisted.
